European Value Engineering Process
Background:
There was no European value engineering process. This resulted in excessive lead-time to implement small engineering or cost savings into manufacturing.
Situation:
Each of the 6 sites had its own process. They were all at different levels of process maturity. There was no communication between the sites to share best practice or co-ordinate value engineering activities.
Task:
To engage the stakeholders and process participants in reviewing the processes, to create a single value engineering process.
Actions:
Regional senior leadership support was gained and the scope of the project agreed. The process participants across the 6 sites were gathered to run a kaizen event to create a single process.
Results:
This reduced the lead-time from 18 months to 10 months and hence accelerated change implementation and savings delivery.
